Talal Rajab: Trainer and Communities Officer

  

Talal is the Aziz Bukhari Communities Officer and a senior Trainer at Quilliam. He is responsible for delivering training seminars around radicalisation and providing consultancy services to a wide network of organisations.  Talal’s work mainly focuses on:


• Explaining the phenomena of ‘home-grown’ radicalisation and the causes of alienation amongst Muslim communities in Europe and North America. 
• Highlighting the differences between Islam and Islamism
• Chronicling the history of Islamist thought and evolution of Islamist-inspired violence

As part of his outreach work Talal focuses on developing closer ties with grassroots Muslim organisations, organising lectures and seminars at schools and colleges and meeting high profile Muslim activists and personnel. 


Talal is the author of Reprogramming British Muslims: A Study of the Islam Channel, a research study on one of the largest Islamic satellite channels in the UK.

 

Talal is a regular contributor to the media, appearing on Fox News, BBC London News, The BBC’s ‘The Big Questions’, BBC Asian News and LBC radio.  He has also written a number of articles for ‘The Independent’ and has delivered lectures on radicalisation and extremism to military personnel and law enforcement officials across the UK and North America. 

 

Talal holds a BA Hons in ‘Politics and History’ from Queen Mary College, University of London and Masters in ‘History of International Relations’ from the London School of Economics (LSE). Talal previously was an intern at the London-based publication ‘Africa Analysis’ and also an intern at the independent consulting firm ‘Good Governance Group’ that provides strategic advice to global companies. He is a member of the Labour party.
