  Arab world
• Trends in Islamist ideology
• Arguments employed by Jihadist groups
• Islamic jurisprudence and theology
• Internet jihadism
• Broader political issues of the Middle East

Prior to joining Quilliam, she was a researcher at the Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. There, she researched and produced reports on security, conflict, and governance related to the Middle East and North Africa. She speaks Persian, and is fluent in Arabic and French.

 

Maryam holds a BA (Hons) in Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS and an MA in International relations and Diplomacy from the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (SOAS), London.
