'10,000 Volts' Preventing Violent Extremism Conference, Newmarket

On 30th June 2009, Quilliam trainer Ishtiaq Hussain took part in the ’10,000 Volts’ Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) Conference in Newmarket. 

 

The event was organised by Essex Police and was attended by 120 delegates from various Police Forces, Counter Terrorism Units, Prison Staff and community organizations.  Other speakers included Professor John Grieve (former police officer), Asim Hafiz (OSCT), Janet Malloy (Essex Police), and Professor Jonathan Crego (HYDRA Operations).

 

Ishtiaq spoke about work the Quilliam Outreach and Training Unit (QOTU) is delivering to key stakeholders and public sector workers involved in the PVE agenda.  Ishtiaq also spoke about his own experiences and explained why networking and working together was the way to tackle all forms of extremism.
