Rashad Ali Speaks at CLG Seminar - Preventing Violent Extremism

The seminar was chaired by Permanent Secretary Peter Housden, and contributions were made by Councilor Fiyaz Mughal of the Liberal Democrats former deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats Party and member of the 'Preventing Extremism Together' working group, Sabin Malik, the Principal Community Cohesion Officer for the London Borough. Rashad explained key tenets of extremists narratives, the role Islam has as a faith in combating terrorism and Islamist narrative, the push pull factors involved in extremist narrative, the modern nature of Islamist extremism, and the manner in which to engage together as a community in building cohesion and preventing terrorism.

 

The event was well attended and the discussion lively with diverse views being expressed.
