The Foundation aims to help foster the intellectual and religious paradigms necessary to revive a genuinely Western Islam. To do so, obstacles along our path need to be removed. We consider these to be scriptural literalism, extremism, Islamism, and foreign ideological influences and interferences with Western Muslim communities. By exposing and undermining these forces, we hope that Muslim communities will organically move toward Western Islam: pluralistic, traditional Islam set in a modern Western context.

Our directors and staff come from across the political spectrum. We are not affiliated to any one political party.

Research
We undertake research into a broad category of social, historical, scriptural, and political areas related to explaining Western Islam. We also investigate the influences of Islamism and Islamists on Muslim communal discourse. From time to time, we will publish reports, issue briefing papers, and press releases to air our concerns and findings. In all that we do, we uphold the highest level of academic scrutiny and conduct evidence-based research.

Analysis & Commentary
In addition to our research-based analysis, we provide media analysis on Islamist extremism, terrorism, failures in social cohesion, and the state of multiculturalism. We also advise policy makers and government agencies on tackling radicalism.

Training
A vital area of our work, that only former Islamists can undertake effectively, is training civil society in being able to identify, understand, assess, and critique the Islamist ideology with its various strands and offshoots. In this regard, we conduct training workshops for key sectors of society in the UK and around the world.

Public Information
We hold regular public events to explain Islamism and its differences with Islam for specialists, journalists, policymakers, parliamentarians and the wider public. We also hold mass debates to challenge extremism of Islamists and others. We tour Britain, Europe, the Americas, and Asia on programmes of countering Islamism, and supporting Islam.
